Is This The Right Time To Start? And Fear!

A couple of months ago I was debating which webinar to offer of two options; (Can Women Have It All) or (Purpose, Passion, and Money).
I called a friend for advice: “Hey Allen, I can’t seem to decide what will be of benefit…blah, blah, blah!” More like rumbling!
Her response: “Janet you are sitting on some great stuff, JUST START.”
Me in my head: “Oh shoot this is exactly what I keep telling my clients, just do it.”
Listen, I get it. When you think about getting started you are probably experiencing fear.
Perhaps you want to pivot your career, you want to start your own business, quit one, or you want a divorce.
Whatever your want, fear will present especially when you are trying to do something unfamiliar.
Fear is a result of #thoughtpatterns that we create from a past experience from which we got a negative response.
It’s the brain’s natural reaction to keeping you safe.
Here's an example. One day as a child you went to your dad/mom all excited because you got an A in math. He then says: "well, that's what I have always expected of you."
Notice that there was no compliment from dad/mom?
Now your child brain will not take that lightly. The disappointment creates thought patterns that keep you saying to yourself that "even if I show them what I have achieved they will not show appreciation."
This experience causes you to stop celebrating your wins.
It’s the brain’s natural reaction to keep you safe.
Look let the fear sit with you because what I have decided is to give you these #mindfulness tips to help you overcome that fear;
1. Do not avoid the fear, welcome it and process it.
2. Practice positive thoughts like “it’s okay to be afraid”, “nothing has happened yet”, “I am safe”.
3. Resisting it and trying to get rid of it will only make it persist. Allow it.
4. Write down the thoughts that are scaring you about the event.
5. Try not to control the outcome with your thoughts.
6. Make the decision, seek help, and do it anyways.
It is okay to be scared, it is part of the human experience.
Nothing has happened yet, you are safe, there is no danger.
So take that fear and make it work in your favor.
Focus on creating solutions to your problem.
Hey, I promise you that the worst that can happen is only a ‘feeling’.
Courage is non-existent when there’s no fear.
Everything you have ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear. -George Addair-
